Hotel bookings

Teams need to book their own hotel. Booking can be done directly at the accommodation, via the Reit im Winkl website or via an online booking website. No general discounts are foreseen for participants to the Winter Atomiade. However, it is advised to book as a group in order to negotiate the best price for your accommodation.

Note: prices can be lower when contacting an accommodation directly by phone or via the website. However, cancellation policies may be more flexible when using an online booking website.

Travel

Reit im Winkl is located in the south-east of Bavaria, in the triangle of Bavaria, Tyrol and Salzburg. Munich is about 140 km away, Salzburg 70 km. More information on travelling to Reit im Winkl can be found on the Reit im Winkl website.

Note for people travelling with a visa: The games are hosted in Germany and the alpine events take place in Austria.

Note: Teams travelling by private coach are invited to indicate the availability of their coach during the week of the event. In case the coaches will be used during the event, the organiser can take this into account.

Ski passes and equipment

Participants need to book their own ski pass.

To compete in the competitions taking place in Steinplatte (Giant Slalom, Snow board Slalom, Combined Slalom, Parallel Slalom) a ski pass for the Steinplatte ski area is needed from Monday to Wednesday. We are currently in negotiations with the ski resort to get the best price for the ski pass. We recommend not to buy a ski pass until we have more information, at the end of January 2025.

Note for supporters: The area where the alpine races take place is accessible by ski or snowboard only, i.e. not on foot.

For cross country skiing in Reit im Winkl a “Reit im Winkl inklusiv Card” is needed, the card will be available at your accommodation, free of charge, upon arrival.

For the cross country and laser biathlon competitions in the Chiemgau Arena in Ruhpolding no additional ski pass is needed. The fee for the Chiemgau Arena is included in the participation fee.

Note for supporters: The arena is accessible on foot and supporters can make use of the same transport as the participants.

Ski, snowboard, cross country skiing and other equipment can be rented from several places in Reit im Winkl, for more info check the Reit im Winkl website.

Welcome reception and registration

During a welcome reception at the open stage on the backside of the Festsaal in Reit im Winkl, all teams can register themselves and participants can gather for a small drink which will be offered by the organiser of the Winter Atomiade.

Note: Please indicate your presence at this reception upon registration for organisational purposes.

Team captains meetings

A team captains meeting will be held each day (see Program) in a meeting room in the Festsaal. The team captain of each institute needs to be present at this meeting. During the meeting the organiser will communicate all organisational details for the next day and any last minute updates. Team captains are expected to communicate this information to their respective teams.

Opening and closing event

The opening and closing events are open to all Winter-Atomiade participants and supporters. They will take place in the Festsaal in Reit im Winkl. Food will be offered by the organiser as well as an entertainment program to make the events into a lively and social gathering.

Note: In order to accommodate for this, please indicate any dietary restrictions upon registration.

Scheefest

The Scheefest is a public event with food, drinks and music, organised by the town of Reit im Winkl. Although the event is open also for people not participating in the Winter Atomiade, we invite everyone to gather there and meet the other teams over some food and a drinks.

Note: Although no food and drinks are offered by ASCERI, people are asked to indicate their presence at this event upon registration for organisational purposes.

Meet & relax/dance evening

In the middle of the week we invite all participants to gather at the festsaal in Reit im Winkl to meet the other teams, relax together or have a dance if you want to loosen your muscles. For this the Festsaal will be available for the Winter Atomiade participants and supporters. Self-funded food and drinks will be available from the festsaal restaurant.

Note: Make sure to indicate your presence for this event upon registration. The event will take place when more than 50 people register for it.

Sports disciplines rules

For more information about individual sports disciplines and related rules, check out the Asceri - Part C - Sports Meetings in Winter Vademecum. The vademecum will be strictly followed by the organiser.

Risks

We all want to have a fun and nice sports event. But please keep in mind that competing as an amateur athlete can involve risks. Note that if you compete in the 2025 Winter Atomiade alpine competitions, you take part at your own risk and you agree that the track is safe enough for your skills. Note also that, cross country races need a good level of fitness and health. We strongly recommend, if you don't exercise regularly, to have a medical check-up before the event.

Although weather conditions are expected to be still fine during late March, the weather is not in our hands. We, the ASCERI together with the local organisers, have chosen the locations so that even with a bad winter, competitions can take place. However if, due to absence of snow, races cannot be organised, the event would need to be cancelled.
